Addison Rae doesn’t shy away from bold makeup, from bright, bold eyeshadows to vibrant lipstick shades. Just last week, she confirmed herself that ’90s blue eyeshadow is making a comeback.

But when it comes to her hair, Addison doesn’t usually take many risks. Sure, she mixes it up with her hairstyles, like when she sported that cute prom-inspired hairstyle and even experimented with going from brunette to sandy blonde and tried bold colors.

But the He’s All That actor seems to be less adventurous when it comes to her hair – well, until now.

For the Met Gala, Addison not only changed her hair color, but also cut off most of her hair.

Celebrity hairstylist Adir Abergel cut Addison’s hair into a blunt lob that looked super chic. As if one hair transformation wasn’t enough, Addison dyed her hair platinum blonde and it really suits her.

Posting images of the look on Instagram, Adir wrote: “New new haircut for this baby tonight @addisonraee for the @voguemagazine MET GALA.”

He added: “I chopped. We colored. I was going for the supermodel vibes from the early 2000s.”

…and we mostly approve.

Conor McGregor has strongly denied he is in rehab and slammed UFC legend Chael Sonnen after the 47-year-old claimed he was getting help for substance abuse.

The Irishman was due to fight Michael Chandler later this month, having not fought in the UFC since his 2021 loss to Dustin Poirier.

However, their fight was postponed due to injury.

Sonnen recently said that McGregor cannot return to the Octagon due to alcohol issues.

But the 35-year-old hit back fiercely in a since-deleted tweet on X.

McGregor vehemently denied the claims and said: “Chael shut your pie hole h*e. Knock on the ground and knock”.

Sonnen’s comments were also dismissed by his representative, Karen Kessler, who says McGregor is hopeful he will agree to a new date for his fight with Chandler.

“The fight was canceled after an injury he sustained during training. He is looking forward to meeting again,” she said.

“Mr McGregor is with his family – and any other reports are incorrect.”

McGregor previously revealed that he was actually giving up alcohol to focus on his return to the UFC.

However, the 35-year-old shared photos of himself drinking at his Black Forged Inn pub in Dublin just days after he retired.

McGregor took to Instagram to show off his broken toe, while admitting he was devastated to be forced to postpone the fight.

“Man, we’ve been so prepared for this fight, it’s absolutely gut-wrenching to take it,” he said.

“I want the new Bugatti to justify to myself to get it now, without putting these fights on the bank.

“We had a lapse in concentration and engaged in a training session without wearing full protective gear and hit my elbow and broke my toe.

“It takes a few weeks, that’s all. I couldn’t justify to my team, or the fans, that I’m doing the hampered walk again. That walk showed.

“This next ride has to be, and will be, 100% Conor McGregor. The fans deserve it and we’re getting closer.

“There was a slight loss of concentration and a nuisance from an injury. Ready. Learn the lesson and move on.

“I’ll get that back. I have too. I’ve got two fights left on my contract.

“I’ve got Bugattis and more yachts on my mind. I’m coming to shine. I just have to take my time. Because I’ve got yachts and Bentleys and villas and everything else.

“You know yourself. But get me, I’ll be back. See you soon. See you at the top. Chandler or not.”

Fans flooded McGregor with messages of support, with one saying: ‘Let’s go king, the crowd is waiting for you.

“You’ll be back in no time bro, the best is yet to come,” said a second.

And a third said, “I am the champion, you are the man.”

Conor McGregor has responded to UFC icon Chael Sonnen’s claims after his fight with Michael Chandler was postponed

Chandler, meanwhile, was also frustrated by the delay.

Speaking earlier this week, he said: “I pulled the rug out from under me at the last possible moment.

“I had just finished my last sparring session on Thursday morning, I had been hearing noises since Monday obviously, but I actually got the call about an hour after my last sparring session was over. An hour after a holiday.

“Anyone who’s trained for a fight or anybody who’s gone through a training camp for something, you go through a really hard block and then to get to the top, you go all the way, you don’t go hard anymore, to throw yourself into fire and risk injury, over training, bumps, bruises, cuts, all those different things.

“I was just done with it. The happiest and healthiest, hardest to kill, most dangerous man I’ve ever been in my entire life, at that moment.

“About 30 minutes later, I got a call that it was all for nothing.”

The rehabbing Seattle Mariners infielder hits a two-run home run Friday night https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/22/bafork/IN51HAO438783KM51/ Sat, 22 Jun 2024 15:51:51 +0000 https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/22/bafork/IN51HAO438783KM51/

Seattle Mariners second baseman Jorge Polanco hit two home runs Friday night as he rehabs his injured hamstring at Triple-A Tacoma.

More impressively, Polanco scored from both sides of the plate, with the left-handed blast traveling 425 feet.

You can see that video here, courtesy of the Rainiers:

Polanco hasn’t played since May 26 with the hamstring problem that’s been bothering him since mid-May, but he certainly looks ready to return to the M’s. He has now played in five rehab games between Single-A Everett and Tacoma, reaching base in all of them.

Because of the distance between Tacoma and Miami, it’s unclear when the Mariners will activate him. Maybe he could make it to Miami in time for Saturday’s game or join the team for Sunday’s finale against the Marlins. What’s more, they could wait to bring him to Tampa Bay for the new series that starts on Monday.

The key addition to the M’s this offseason, Polanco is hitting just .195 at the big league level this year, a major departure from his .265 career average. Regardless of his early season struggles, the M’s need him to go. Since the Mariners offense ranks near the bottom of the league in several metrics, starting Polanco would be a huge boost and help stretch the lineup.

When he does return, the easy assumption is that he will fill Ryan Bliss’ roster spot, but if the team wants to keep Bliss, he could take over for the now little-used Tyler Locklear.

The Ms and Marlins play Saturday at 1:10pm PT.

Two dead in youth protests in Kenya https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/22/bafork/IN51HAO438781KM07/ Sat, 22 Jun 2024 15:51:07 +0000 https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/22/bafork/IN51HAO438781KM07/

A 21-year-old man died after being hit by a tear gas canister during protests in Kenya this week, a human rights official and a relative of the victim said on Saturday, in the second death from the demonstrations of young people.

Led largely by Gen-Z Kenyans, who live-streamed the demonstrations against the tax hike, the protests were galvanized by widespread anger at President William Ruto’s economic policies.

Thursday’s demonstrations in the capital Nairobi were largely peaceful, but officers fired tear gas and water cannons throughout the day in an attempt to disperse protesters near parliament.

According to a Kenya Human Rights Commission official, 21-year-old Evans Kiratu was “hit by a tear gas canister” during the demonstrations.

“He was rushed to hospital around 18:00 (15:00 GMT) on Thursday … and died there,” Ernest Cornel, a spokesman for the Kenya Human Rights Commission, told AFP.

“It is tragic that a young person can lose his life simply because he is agitating against the high cost of living.”

The victim’s aunt told national broadcaster Citizen TV that her nephew died in hospital before she could see him.

“We are demanding justice for my grandson,” she said.

The rallies began in Nairobi on Tuesday before spreading across the country, with protesters calling for a national strike on June 25.

Kiratu’s death follows another death reported on Friday, when a police watchdog said it was investigating allegations that a 29-year-old man was shot dead by officers in Nairobi after demonstrations.

The Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) said it had “documented the death… believed to be the result of police shooting” on Thursday.

According to a police report seen by AFP, a 29-year-old man was taken to hospital in Nairobi around 19:00 (16:00 GMT) on Thursday “unconscious with a thigh injury” before “succumbed” to his injuries, without providing further details.

Several organizations, including Amnesty International Kenya, said at least 200 people were injured in Nairobi after Thursday’s protests, which saw thousands take to the streets across the country.

– Stacking pressure –

Following smaller-scale demonstrations in Nairobi earlier in the week, the cash-strapped government agreed to roll back some tax hikes in a new bill.

But Ruto’s administration still plans to raise some taxes, defending the proposed taxes as necessary to fill its coffers and reduce reliance on foreign borrowing.

The tax hikes will put further pressure on Kenyans, many already struggling to survive, as the cost of living rises and well-paid jobs remain out of reach for young people.

Organized largely through social media, the protests have caught the government by surprise, with protesters now calling for a nationwide shutdown.

“Tuesday June 25: #OccupyParliament and Total Shutdown Kenya. A national strike,” read a poster widely shared online, adding that “Gen Z is giving all hard-working Kenyans a day off. Parents keep your children at home in solidarity.”

After the government agreed to scrap taxes on bread, car ownership, financial and mobile services, the Treasury warned of a 200 billion shilling ($1.5 billion) shortfall.

The proposed taxes were estimated to raise 346.7 billion shillings ($2.7 billion), equivalent to 1.9 percent of GDP, and reduce the budget deficit from 5.7 percent to 3.3 percent of GDP.

The government has now targeted an increase in fuel prices and export taxes to fill the gap left by the changes, a move critics say will make life more expensive in a country struggling with high inflation.

Kenya is one of the most dynamic economies in East Africa, but a third of its 51.5 million people live in poverty.

Yung Joc’s Wife Texts Him After Cheating Rumors https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/22/bafork/IN50HAO438779KM45/ Sat, 22 Jun 2024 15:50:45 +0000 https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/22/bafork/IN50HAO438779KM45/

Yung Joc was having a great day until a blog site accused him of cheating on his wife, Kendra Robinson.

Joc addressed the rumors on his ‘Yung Joc & The Streetz Morning Takeover Show’ radio show when a video started circulating on social media of him talking to a woman outside.

“Three days after his wife gave him a nice (shout out) on Instagram, he cheated on her. Yung Joc cuddled with another woman who is not his wife,” the caption of the video read.

Joc explained that the clip painted a false narrative and was trying to defuse a situation between the woman, Tamar Braxton, and a third person.

“The blog said I was hugging, the blog said I was cheating, but if you look at the video, I’m not doing anything,” Joc said. “I’m there, I’m in business. I’m not even talking, I’m just looking.”

Later on the show, Joc shared a text message she received from Robinson that she relayed to her and her mother while he was on air.

“I just got a message from my wife, it’s a message for me and her mother. It says “Divorce Jasiel, Mom. A blog accused him of cheating on me, so I’m done.’ This is what I deal with in real life. That’s what happens when you play with people’s lives and play with anything they might have to do with it,” Joc said.

The season finale focuses on the 2002 death of Patty Wlasiuk, who was first believed to have drowned after her pickup truck overturned in the icy waters of Guilford Lake in upstate New York. That’s the story Patty’s husband Peter gave the police, but further investigation revealed a different scenario led to her death. Peter ended up being arrested and sentenced to 25 years to life for second degree murder.

Ahead of the episode, we spoke with Patty’s sister, Wendy Jennings, about revisiting the loss of her brother 22 years later.

Wendy Jennings: I was glad because it brought it back to the fore so that people who knew the situation back then were thinking about it again… When Oxygen contacted me, it was time to get it out there. This is the story. He was convicted not once, but three times. The potential for him to come out soon is there. Do we really want this to be the case?

What was it like to live through that again?

It’s funny because the more you talk about it, the less excited you get. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t give back a lot. I have interviewed several times for different programs. I think it was easier for me to talk with more time. It’s something I talk about anyway when something or an anniversary comes up. Last year, my sister’s son died. We took care of it. My sister and I are burying him, so there are a lot of connections.

Peter Wlasiuk

Peter Wlasiuk (Evening Sun)

There were a lot of moving parts in this investigation. How do you look back on the police work that went into arresting Peter?

I remember feeling blessed at the time to have such determined people. That goes to the medical examiner to the police and the accident reconstruction and the constant line of thought that they weren’t going to let this one go. It was really the first big case like this in that area and county. It was a big deal back then. Now, unfortunately, other people have gone through similar situations. It was the starting point where other police stations know what to look for and how to keep the investigation on track. It was really a big deal here. We were blessed to have these people working on the case and we continued to work until they found answers.

How did you cope with the loss?

I think the fact that Patty left kids made a big difference because you realize you have to move on because of the kids. My mother and grandmother were here. My grandmother lived with Patty for several years, so there was a lot of closeness. You had to be strong for them too. It was a difficult situation for my mother and grandmother. It was finding strength in connecting with family and staying close. I think I had a husband in the police before the accident. That helped because he understood the technical aspect of it, but also the emotional aspect. For me, his support at the time was essential. I was making trips up to Baltimore basically once a month to see family and make sure things were okay. I also made regular calls to stay in touch.

What do you want viewers to know about this case and about Patty as a person?

I just want people to remember that he was found guilty. That being the case, do we really want him back in the community? I know people keep talking about how beloved Patty was. They say the same thing about my mom and grandma… I think with Patty, just remember the gentle, caring, loving person she was, who would have gone out of her way to help in any way she could. She worked at the hospital and her patients loved her. The EMTs and police coming in and out of the ER loved her. The nursing staff and doctors loved her. The love she had and that they felt for her. Her kids can relate to that, so there is a positive memory despite the horrible situation.

Peter eventually remarried and for years his wife tried to create a supporting reason to get him out. What do you think of all this?

When that show was over, they went to Attica and interviewed him and he wouldn’t answer any questions. Can you conclude that if he was unwilling to answer these questions, what is he hiding? One of the people involved with him at the time had since been burned by him. She regrets being involved at all. I know it’s a case of “Yeah, I could have told you that. You had to learn the hard way.” All this “justice for Peter” and all that stuff, I just sit there and shake my head. I’m thinking, “If you’re really that stupid to think after three tries, ‘Okay, he was innocent.’ That’s on them. In my heart, I know. When I found out she got married in prison, all I could think was, “She’ll learn the hard way too.” That’s what he does. He uses you and burns bridges and drops you like a hot potato.

Kaspersky Lab, a Russian antivirus and cybersecurity company, has received two rounds of sanctions from the US government. Kaspersky Antivirus products have been banned from sale in the US, with users given 100 days to find a working replacement before all functionality is terminated.

Fearing ties to the Russian government, the US Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) issued its first sanctions against Kaspersky on Thursday, issuing a Final Decision banning Kaspersky from providing antivirus or cybersecurity solutions to any persons from the United States. The blanket ban was the first of its kind issued by the BIS after the last two US presidents granted expanded powers.

At least nine people, including three from a family, in a wedding program were killed as a minibus carrying them plunged into a river after a bridge collapsed in Amtali Upazila of Barguna on Saturday.

The tragic end of those people left the entire area in mourning, with the cries of mourners filling the air.

Deceased are Munni Begum, 40, her two daughters Tasfia, 14, and Tahiya Mehjabin Azad, 7, Rubia, 45, Raiti, 22, Fatema Akhtar, 55, Ruby Begum, 35 years and Zakia Begum, 30, and her daughter Hridi. , 5.

Among them, Zakia and her daughter were from Dakshin Taktabunia village in Amtali upazila. The other seven victims were residents of Kokarar Char in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur and were relatives of the bride.

Abul Kalam Azad, husband of late Munni, said, “I have lost everything. My two daughters and my wife are dead. Now I am powerless.”

Sohel Mia, who was in the minibus, said: “There were 16 passengers in the minibus heading to the groom’s house. As soon as we reached the Haldiya Hat Bridge, it collapsed and the minibus fell into the river. Three of us managed to swim to safety. Later, the locals, firefighters and police recovered nine bodies”.

Eyewitnesses and Haldiya Union Parishad (UP) members Saiful Islam Swapan and Nashir Uddin said, “As soon as the minibus and auto-rickshaw reached the middle of the bridge, they collapsed with a thud, causing the vehicles to fall into the river . We immediately tried to save the victims with the help of the locals. Later, the fire brigade and the police joined the rescue operation”.

On Saturday, the bride’s family was traveling in a minibus and a rickshaw to the groom’s house around 1:30 p.m. As they were crossing the Haldiya Bridge, the central portion of the bridge collapsed, causing the vehicles to plunge into the river. The passengers in the auto-rickshaw managed to swim to safety, but those in the minibus drowned.”

Local Nashir Uddin, an eyewitness, said locals immediately tried to rescue the people trapped in the minibus. On receiving the news, Amtali fire brigade and police rushed to the spot to help in the rescue efforts.

The bodies were taken to Amtali Upazila Health Complex. Following the incident, thousands of people protested, demanding justice for the victims and punishment for the contractor, one Shahidul Islam Mridha, who built the bridge about 10 years ago.

Hearing the incident, local MP Golam Sarwar Tuku, Deputy Commissioner Md. Rafiqul Islam, Upazila Parishad President Alhaj Golam Sarwar Forkan and others rushed to the spot.

MP Tuku said: “We condoled with the families of the victims at the hospital and visited the scene. I also calmed down the agitated ones on the site. If irregularities in the construction of the bridge led to this incident, an investigation will be conducted and legal action will be taken. Financial assistance will be provided to the families of the victims.”

Deputy Commissioner Rafiqul Islam said he visited the spot. Legal action will be taken against the contractor for irregularities in the construction of the bridge.”

Amtali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Shakhawat Hossain Tupu confirmed the situation, saying the bodies were handed over to the families without post-mortem following appeals from the families of the victims.

Mister. Hanif, in-charge of the Amtali Fire Service, said that despite four hours of efforts, they could not recover the minibus. The rescue operation was still in progress.

There are allegations that contractor Mridha constructed the bridge badly. As a result, the central girder of the bridge broke within five years of its construction. Over the past ten years, around 50,000 people from Haldiya Union, Chawra and nearby areas have used the rickety bridge.

It was learned that in the fiscal year 2008-09, the iron bridge over the Chawra river at Haldiya Hat was constructed at a cost of about Tk 2 million.

The construction contract was awarded to Mridha, the then president of the Haldiya Union Parishad and president of the local Awami League.

Denying the allegation, contractor Mridha claimed, “We have constructed the bridge properly. There were no construction irregularities.”

Amtali Upazila Engineer Abdullah Al Mamun said, “The bridge was built before I joined Amtali. I have no knowledge of that.”
