Man charged with unlicensed possession of firearm after search of impounded car turns up gun, police say

A Perkasie man faces one count of unlicensed possession of a firearm and one count of drug possession after a loaded 9mm handgun and five bags of suspected marijuana were found in an impounded vehicle under the seat the passenger.

Hilltown Township Police said a traffic stop was conducted on Jan. 29, 2024 at 10:20 p.m. on Route 152 near Shirley Lane on the driver of a black 2019 Hyundai Sonata for driving without headlights on.

The driver, Trajon Wilson, 20, and a passenger, Frank Eugene Wilson, 23, of the 60th south block 3st Street, Perkasie, were identified as the car’s occupants, police said. While speaking with the Wilsons, police detected an odor of burnt, fresh marijuana emanating from the car, according to the complaint.

The driver refused police requests to search the vehicle, and the vehicle was then impounded for a search warrant, according to the affidavit.

On January 31, 2024, a search warrant was issued for the impounded Hyundai.

Police said a Taurus G3 9mm handgun was found under the passenger seat where Frank Wilson was sitting. The pistol had a magazine loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition. Police also found five small plastic bags with suspected marijuana residue on the passenger side floor of the car, according to the complaint.

Authorities charged Wilson on June 13, 2024, and he was arraigned on July 17 before District Judge Regina Armitage, who set bail at $50,000 unsecured, according to court documents. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 27 at 1:45 p.m. before Armitage.

Wilson is awaiting a preliminary hearing in Bensalem District Court 07-1-12 on felony drug possession and eluding police charges stemming from a June 11, 2024, Bensalem Township Police arrest, according to court records.

He pleaded guilty in May 2021 to a felony drug charge in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court, according to court records.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
