Trump insiders blame Kellyanne Conway for bad press surrounding JD Vance: Report

Trump’s inner circle blames GOP strategist Kellyanne Conway for the bad press surrounding Sen. JD Vance (R-OH).

In interviews with 20 Trump campaign staffers, allies, confidantes and advisers, with Bastion, more than a dozen people, unprompted, blamed Conway for Vance’s negative press coverage. They believe Conway is leaking damaging information to the media, portraying Trumpworld as questioning Vance’s election. The rumors have arrived and are apparently being believed by Vance and his biggest ally in the Trump camp, Donald Trump Jr.

“He’s crazy about it. He knows it’s her,” a confidant of Donald Trump Jr. told the press.

A confidant of former President Donald Trump said the attacks against Vance from within Trumpworld were “100 percent from Kellyanne.”

Conway was a leading figure in advocating against Vance as the former president’s running mate. She preferred Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) or Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND), saying at a Fox News meeting before the election that the former president would only pick Vance over my dead body.

Republican strategist Ryan Girdusky, citing the article, characterized Conway’s moves as a “smear effort” against Vance.

Conway denied the allegations in an interview with Bastionderiding the ten sources as jealous “gossip girls” and “ankle biters.”

“When it comes to concerned people questioning JD Vance’s vetting or selection, the calls come in, they don’t go out,” she said. “I don’t call them and say this is bad. People ask me. They don’t just ask me. They ask a lot of people.”

The allegations are a departure from an unusually stable Trump campaign, which the report attributes to the friendship of the leading triumvirate — senior Trump campaign advisers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita and strategist Tony Fabrizio. The former president’s 2016 and 2020 campaigns were marred by leadership infighting and frequent leaks.

Insiders who spoke to the press described the current period as more stressful than the Republican primary, the former president’s legal troubles and even the assassination attempt.

The Trump campaign was put on the defensive for the first time since the June 27 debate after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the presumptive Democratic nominee. Since then, she has narrowed the gap in the polls with the former president.
