1 charged, 8 dismissed in connection with Gunn Street fire investigation in Lexington KY

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — One man is facing charges and eight people were displaced after a fire broke out in Lexington Friday night.

According to the Lexington Fire Department, crews were dispatched around 10:20 p.m. Friday in response to reports of a fire on the 400 block of Gunn Street.


Battalion Chief Derek Roberts told FOX 56 that when crews arrived, they could see heavy smoke in the area, which involved several apartments before it was extinguished.

Eight occupants of the various apartments involved in the fire were evacuated, according to Chief Roberts.

An investigation into the origin of the fire is still ongoing, but Chief Dawson of the Lexington Fire Department told FOX 56 that fire is not believed to be the cause.

A man has been arrested in connection with the fire investigation and charged with criminal mischief, according to the Lexington Police Department. His name has not been released.
