Doda (Jammu and Kashmir) (India), July 13 (ANI): Two people were killed and four were seriously injured after a bus plying from Bhalessa to Thathri skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge 200 feet deep in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

Nine people have been admitted to GMC (Government Medical College) Doda, officials said.

However, the exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, but it appears that the reason was a malfunction of the bus, officials said.

“Two people died in the accident. Four were seriously injured and five others were sent to hospital. We have referred a total of nine people to GMC, Doda. The reason for the accident appears to be a malfunction in the bus,” said Harvinder Singh , Deputy Commissioner Doda.

“The driver did his best to avoid the accident. We appreciate his efforts. However, we lost two lives in the accident. A total of 26 people were injured, including 2 children. We referred critical patients to GMC Doda…” Singh added.
