Warren Police are investigating a report that raccoons were trapped, burned alive

Police are investigating a report that someone burned two raccoons alive in Warren.

A Hillsdale Dr. NW woman told police Wednesday that a man she knows left her a voicemail claiming he had done something terrible.

The woman said that when she called the man back, he told her that when he found two raccoons in a trash can, he closed a lid, taped it shut and set the box on fire, burning the raccoons alive .

The woman told police the man also said he saw the raccoons in his yard the previous week and shot them.

The report does not say charges have been filed, but it cites an Ohio law that makes it illegal to torture an animal.
