CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — A free and full Independence Day celebration is coming to Onarga on July 6.

WCIA’s Matthew White spoke about the event with Cheryl Lizzio of the Onarga Chamber of Commerce for a Wednesday Community Spotlight.

The celebration will begin at 11am with the Grand Parade, then march to Durham Park. There, attendees will see food and craft vendors, live entertainment and a car show. There will also be plenty of activities available, including basketball and soccer tournaments.

Lizzio said a new addition to this year’s event is the antique tractor pull and children’s pull.

At dusk, the event will culminate with a fireworks show, hosted by the Onarga Fire Department.
