Springfield police are investigating the shooting death of the teenager

A 16-year-old boy died from gunshot wounds, according to the Springfield Police Department. The boy is the fifth victim for 2024 and this is SPD’s fourth homicide investigation this year.

On June 21, SPD responded to a shooting at 2832 E. Linwood St., where they found Davondre Thompson-Baugher with a gunshot wound. Thompson-Baugher was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries on June 23, according to SPD.

At the time of the incident, a juvenile was detained and later transported to the Greene County Juvenile Detention Center, according to the report. A Greene County juvenile judge will make a decision on the charges.
