New England Fashion Week will help put Springfield on the fashion map

This year, Richardson’s efforts are centered on the Springfield Carnival, which begins on July 22, and Fab Fashion Week New England in September.

SPRINGFIELD — Fab Passion Fashion Week founder Richie Richardson wants his event to help solidify Springfield as the fashion capital of New England.

Through exhibits at the event, Richardson will highlight the significance of cultural diversity in the fashion industry, a topic she believes is not covered enough in American fashion education.

“The stories we bring to fashion are important. They are who we are. We find it engraved in us and then we bring it with us everywhere in the world,” he said. “Fashion is diverse, the population of the world is diverse. There is no single population or people who make fashion. All people make fashion.”

New England Fab Passion Fashion Week will be held beginning September 27th in downtown Springfield at the Community Music School.

Fab Fashion Week began in 2018 in Franklin County and expanded last year with a preview event in Springfield at the invitation of Make-It Springfield. This event coincided with the inaugural Springfield Fashion Week held in August.
