Board of Regents Approves Wichita State’s 10-Year Master Plan

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – By 2034, some of Wichita State University’s older buildings will be demolished and new construction will add to the university’s expected growth. Changes come with those of the university Master Plan for 10 yearsunveiled in March and approved by the Kansas Board of Regents this week.

The board’s approval means plans can move forward over the next decade to demolish 10 older buildings on campus, including the Heskett Center and Hubbard Hall. The master plan also includes the construction of more than a dozen buildings.

WSU plans to divide its campus into five districts: an academic core, the Innovation Campus, a “gateway” between the campus and 17th Street, a historic district and a sports district.

Wichita State did not share its estimated cost to meet its 2034 vision, but said the changes will take place over several years.
