Where to celebrate the 4th of July

Summer events are back in the Hudson Valley, and local fireworks are ready to light up the night sky. Independence Day brings a number of patriotic events to the region. Live performances by local musicians, craft food and beverage vendors, and good old-fashioned baseball accompany the 4th of July festivities. Plus, catch bursts of color throughout the warm weather season. Here’s where to watch the region’s glittering festivities.

Albany County

New York State’s 4th of July holiday

Empire State Plaza, Albany
July 4, 5–10 p.m

Independence Day festivities return to the iconic Empire State Plaza. Head to New York’s capital for live music by Bruce Hornsby and The Noisemakers and a flyover with the 109AW New York Air Guard. There will also be food vendors galore and, of course, vibrant fireworks lighting up the night sky. Sip craft brews from some of the Hudson Valley’s best producers while enjoying one of the region’s largest fireworks displays.

City of Germantown Independence Day Fireworks

Head to Palatine Park to celebrate Independence and Freedom Day in Germantown. On Saturday July 4th weekend, experience an incredible fireworks display, along with live music by In the Dust and food vendors.

The 4th of July fireworks show

Hudson Walkway, Poughkeepsiee
July 4, 7 p.m

Catch fireworks at eye level at this Walkway Over the Hudson viewing party. Attendees who purchase tickets can view the sparklers from 212 feet above the Hudson River, guaranteeing an unforgettable Fourth of July celebration. Tickets are $25 per person or $20 for Walkway Members, Veterans and Seniors. Children under 12 can participate for free.

Hudson Valley Renegades Fireworks Game

Summer and baseball go hand in hand, which is why there’s no place like Heritage Financial Park in Wappingers Falls to celebrate the Fourth of July this year. Come for the baseball game pitting the ‘Gades against the Brooklyn Cyclones, then stay for the Independence Day fireworks display.

Kick off the Fourth with an annual Stars and Stripes sandcastle contest at CD Lane Park before joining the evening procession. The Greene County Parade steps off at 7:00 PM from Route 296 to Main Street. Fireworks go off at Windham Mountain Club at dusk, so pack a blanket and bring the family for a night of good fun.

Celebrate Independence Day with a (literal) bang and join Cairo for an evening of celebration. Angelo Canna Town Park is a great Catskills destination for outdoor entertainment. Bring snacks or eat fresh food from Hudson Valley vendors before settling in for fireworks at dusk.

Bands like The Robert Telefson Band and Robert Kopeck Quartet bring music to the shindig, and fireworks sparkle in the evening sky.

Cornwall’s Independence Day Celebration

Cornwall’s annual festivities are back in full swing this year with a parade through the town centre. This event has it all – from a craft fair to live music to the Duck Derby – for a day-long celebration. Community members and families will be able to turn their cars into their very own parade floats and be at the center of the action! The parade starts at 17.00 on Main Street with sparkling fireworks after dark at Rings Pond.

New York Boulders 4th of July Firecrackers

Hot dogs, cold drinks, free giveaways and more await at these Rockland County baseball games. Watch the New York Boulders play ball against the Trois-Rivieres Aigles at Clover Stadium in Pomona. After the game, fireworks light up the night sky to commemorate the Fourth of July, along with a symphony performance. The baseball stadium is a delightful destination and a great place for family fun. Independence Day fireworks all weekend? Count us in. Mohonk Mountain House is one of the most recognizable and iconic destinations in the entire Hudson Valley. Fourth of July Celebration at Pierson Park

July 4, 5 p.m

Tarrytown is hosting a fun-filled evening to celebrate Independence Day. The hoopla starts at 5pm with food trucks like Cousin’s Maine Lobster and Wanna Empanada, then transitions into a fun time for kids, who can take advantage of face painting, glitter tattoos and a bouncy castle. After live music from KickStart Charlie at 7:30 p.m., the fireworks begin after dark.
