Detroit man, teenager charged in alleged 4-wheeler robbery in Warren

A man and a teenager were arraigned Monday in Warren for allegedly stealing a four-wheeler from the man who sold it and shooting it, officials said.

Larry Moses Jr., a 20-year-old Detroit resident, allegedly went to the house where a man was selling his four-wheeler on May 31, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

Moses Jr. and a 15-year-old boy allegedly fled the home in the four-wheeler after one of them pointed a gun at the man, according to the affidavit. Officials have not released the teenager’s name.

The alleged robbers also shot the owner of the four-wheeler while he was chasing the two in his truck, prosecutors said.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office charged the teenager with four felonies, including car theft, assault with intent to murder, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a firearm while committing a felony. The teenager could face life in prison for the former two charges.

Moses Jr. faces the same charges and was also charged as a second habitual offender for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

“Their decision to take an innocent victim at gunpoint and then open fire on her reflects a disregard for human life and the safety of our community,” Macomb County District Attorney Peter Lucido said in the statement. “We will make sure they are held accountable for them. violent actions and send a clear message that such crimes will not be tolerated.”

U.S. District Judge Steve Bieda arraigned Moses Jr. and the teenager Monday in Warren County District Court, setting their bonds at $1 million each.

None of the defendants will be allowed to pay only a 10 percent deposit of their bond, with a promise to pay the remaining amount until they fail to appear in court, according to the release.

Both defendants are due back in court for a probable cause hearing and preliminary examination on June 20 and 27.

No attorney was listed for Moses Jr. in online court records as of Tuesday.
