Woman sentenced to at least 45 years in prison for fatal shooting at Omaha sports bar

A woman convicted in connection with a deadly 2022 shooting at an Omaha sports bar will serve time in prison. Kanesha Plater was sentenced Monday to 18 to 20 years for manslaughter and 27 to 45 years for using a deadly weapon to commit a felony. the killing of 20-year-old Vincent Burns. The sentences will be executed consecutively. Burns was shot and killed in January 2022 at the Jet Sports Bar. According to police, 33-year-old Marquetta Pope and 26-year-old Trevon Walker were also wounded in the shooting. Plater was initially charged with second-degree murder. A woman convicted in connection with a deadly 2022 attack at an Omaha sports bar will serve time in prison.

Kanesha Plater was sentenced Monday to 18 to 20 years for manslaughter and 27 to 45 years for using a deadly weapon to commit a crime in the killing of 20-year-old Vincent Burns. The sentences will be served consecutively.

Burns was shot and killed in January 2022 at the Jet Sports Bar.

According to police, 33-year-old Marquetta Pope and 26-year-old Trevon Walker were also wounded in the shooting.

Plater was initially charged with second-degree murder. She accepted a plea deal in April.
