Andhra Pradesh election results 2024 live: Center failed to fulfill promises made in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, parties say

While the BJP government says it has fulfilled 90% of the promises made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, state political parties claim that several key commitments remain unfulfilled.

In Telangana, even after a decade of state formation, various projects and initiatives promised in the Act have not materialised. These include setting up a railway wagon factory at Kazipet, a steel plant in Bayyaram, a mining university, granting national status to an irrigation project and increasing the number of assembly seats from 119 to 153.

Failure to fulfill these promises has drawn criticism from the state’s political parties.

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) further accused the central government of not releasing funds worth Rs 900 crore under the ‘Backward Region Grant Funds (BRGF)’ scheme. In addition, the party claims that bifurcation of institutions listed in Schedules IX and X of the Act has not been completed, adding to the list of unfulfilled commitments.
