Man charged with attempted murder, more in West Virginia

A Hagerstown man wanted for attempted murder was arrested and taken into custody Friday, May 31, on charges stemming from a 2021 shooting at Club Aura in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

A warrant was issued out of Berkeley County for Justin Broadus, 36, of Hagerstown on May 17. The warrant charged Broadus with Attempted Murder, Conspiracy to Attempt Murder, Endangerment and Conspiracy to Wanton Endangerment with a Firearm.

On May 31, Broadus was located and taken into custody without incident in the 300 block of Central Avenue in Hagerstown with assistance from the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, the Hagerstown Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service.

Broadus was previously arrested by the Fugitive Task Force in March 2023 on an unrelated drug charge. Investigators developed information indicating that Broadus was still in the Hagerstown area.

“The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and District Attorneys did a great job investigating this attempted murder case that led to the indictment of Broadus,” Acting U.S. Marshal Terry Moore said in a news release from the U.S. Marshals Service. “This arrest is an excellent example of how our partnerships with state and local agencies enable them to bring their violent offenders to justice.”

Broadus is being held at the Washington County Adult Detention Center. Additional information about this case can be obtained from the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and the Berkeley County District Attorney’s Office in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
