Archie Stanton Obituary – Springfield, VA

SPRINGFIELD – Dr. Archie C. Stanton, Jr., 91, of Norfolk, died Saturday, January 27, 2007, in Springfield, Virginia. After serving in World War II as a medical supply officer and assistant surgeon, Archie graduated from the Medical College of Virginia. He was a founding partner of Peninsula Orthopedics Associates in Newport News and served Peninsula as an orthopedic surgeon for more than 25 years before his retirement in 1980. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Kathleen H. Stanton. Survivors include her four children, Patricia Lee Stanton, Robert S. Stanton, Kathleen S. Richardson and Ann S. Parker; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Jordan; a sister-in-law, Virginia H. Barritt; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A private memorial service will be held for family only at Peninsula Funeral Home in Newport News, followed by burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 6315 N. Center Drive, Norfolk, VA 23502 or any charity of choice. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
