The use of plastic products is prohibited from June 5

FAISALABAD, June 02 (APP): The Environment Protection Agency has announced that there will be a total ban on the use of plastic products from June 5.

According to the spokesperson of the district administration here on Sunday, plastic bags less than 75 microns in thickness and size less than 12×16 inches and plastic stick ears will be banned.

Plastic balloon sticks, plastic flags and plastic candy sticks, plastic ice cream sticks will also be banned.

The prohibited list also includes cups, glasses, plates, food boxes, plastic packaging on candy boxes, glasses, disposable polystyrene plates.

Plastic cigarette packs, plastic or PVC banners smaller than 80 microns and multi-layer packaging smaller than 40 microns (eg for food and medicine) will be prohibited.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Nayyar Sheikh has instructed the Assistant Commissioners and Environment Department Agency to ensure implementation of the ban under zero tolerance policy.

“Let’s get rid of plastic; save the earth and use eco-friendly shopping bags to ensure environmental protection,” the DC added.
