The local care center organizes a community barbecue

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — A home care center in Sioux Falls held a barbecue in northwest Sioux Falls to raise awareness about the services they provide.

Sinzinkauio Eli is from Tanzania and moved to Sioux Falls eight years ago. He started Eli Home Care over three years ago with a passion to provide professional health care services to the Sioux Falls community.

“We take care of all people. Right. Persons with disabilities or unable to care for themselves. So instead of going to a nursing home, they stay at home and we send a caregiver to go to their homes and help them, you know, like personal care, housekeeping, take them to Wal-Mart shopping food, you you know, buy medicine. And then we also send a nurse to come and put medicine for these people,” said Sinzinkauio Eli.

Today, the group threw a barbecue at Mansor-Pioneer Park for those who benefit from his care and as an opportunity for others to meet.

“I feel like it’s good for me to give back to the community. And then let them know we exist. They know we are here to help and that we care about them,” said Eli.

And Eli is not the only one who shares this passion.

“I have several family members who are somewhat disabled or need help or have autism. And it’s such a joy to take care of them and have them care about them,” Caitlyn Burgess said.

Whether it’s personal assistance or non-medical transportation, Eli Home Care says they’re ready to help.

“I hope to leave these people to bring smiles to these people. Most of them have lived independently on their own, so they feel like they have people who care about them,” Eli said.
