Obituary for Alice Marie (Funkhouser) Archer | May 30, 2024

Alice Marie (Funkhouser) Archer, 64, of Moorhead, Iowa, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024, at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy in Omaha, Nebraska.

A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at 7:00 PM at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel in Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Stan Johnson officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Alice’s obituary. A visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Goslar Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Alice Marie Kirkpatrick was born on December 8, 1959 in Onawa, Iowa to Walter “Neil” and Peggy Jean (Bergstrom) Kirkpatrick. She grew up in Onawa and attended West Monona. On October 4, 1975, she married Tony Wade Funkhouser and to this union two children were born, Schadra and William. Tony died on October 11, 1992. On July 3, 1994, Alice then married David Lemule Archer at the Moorhead Community Center in Moorhead, Iowa. David died on April 9, 2018.

Alice was an accountant for David Archer Construction for many years. She was also a full-time mother to her children and caregiver to David. She enjoyed working, gardening, hummingbirds and was extremely competitive with board games. Alice liked to watch the movie Minions with her family. She has volunteered in the Moorhead community for many years, including at the Moorhead Cultural Center.

Survivors include her fiancé, Jeff Shinner of Moorhead, Iowa; her children, Schadra Funkhouser of Onawa, Iowa, William (Samantha) Funkhouser of Castana, Iowa and Mark Archer of Moorhead, Iowa; grandchildren, Jessie (fiancé Vince Nielson) Funkhouser of Sioux City, Iowa, Eli Funkhouser of Hinton, Iowa, Emerson (Marresa Langhorst) MacClure of Hinton, Iowa, Keith (Danelle Eckiss) Young of Mount Carmel, Illinois, Olivia (Levi Kelly) Funkhouser of Abilene, Texas, Aloaha Funkhouser of Castana, Iowa, Jocelyn MacClure of Onawa, Iowa and Aaron Archer of Moorhead, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Kylie, Mercy and Valor Funkhouser of McCook Lake, South Dakota; brother, Larry (Becky) Kirkpatrick of Onawa, Iowa; two sisters, Kimberly (Stuart Miller) Kirkpatrick of Minneapolis, Minn. and Heather (Roger) Graham of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and good friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter “Neil” and Peggy Jean (Bergstrom) Kirkpatrick; husband, Tony Funkhouser; husband, David Archer; and son-in-law, Michael MacClure.

Alice gave the gift of life through organ and tissue donation with the Live On Nebraska Organization.
