UiTM student rescued after car plunged into river in Perlis

KUALA LUMPUR: A student from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Arau in Perlis was rescued after her car plunged into a river in Kampung Amer on Friday (June 2).

Besut District Police Chief Supr. Abdul Rozak Mohamad, said 21-year-old Nur Fatnin Insyirah Mohd Nazri was rescued by villagers during the 11.30am incident.

He said Nur Fatnin Insyirah, from Wakaf Tengah in Kuala Terengganu, was on his way from Kuala Terengganu to Kota Bharu, Kelantan to pick up a friend before heading to Arau.

“However, the car he was driving skidded and plunged into a river in Kampung Amer. With the assistance of nearby residents, the Fire and Rescue Department and the Malaysian Civil Defense Force, she was freed from the car and sent to Besut Hospital,” he said.

Abdul Rozak reported that the victim is in a stable condition and that investigations have revealed that the accident did not involve any other parties or vehicles. – Bernama
